BGF Budget 2019/2020
These projects were selected by BGF, based on the evidence of business interest by project members and a commitment to the project. The Bertha Gxowa Foundation is committed to reducing the rate of poverty in the communities we work in and facilitating an enabling working environment for black women. As a Foundation we believe committing to developing our existing portfolio of projects will directly impact the quality of life of our beneficiaries in a positive manner. BGF is dedicated to not only identifying viable projects but ensuring through technical training, on-site capacity building and financial support the development of Black Women start-up enterprises .
The total Project expenses for the 2019/2020 financial year are budgeted at R 4 133 305,65 these costs are based on extensive assessments and ongoing cost estimates.
For management to be able to support these projects a number of resources have been outlined in the budget. Capital Expenditure, Administration Costs have been highlighted. These budget line items are necessary to enable BGF to be able to successfully support the projects moving forward. By end of the year the intent of Bertha Gxowa Foundation Trust is to have a full staff compliment.
Professional fees have been included in the budget including audit fees. Professional fees have been included as BGF intends not only to consistently comply with SARS’ expectations of an organization approved for PBO status but also ensure Nozala Trust receives consistent reports of our audits moving forward. BGF intends to have annual audits in February, our financial year end. As outlined in the signed MoU under Beneficiaries responsibilities 5.7 BGF has agreed to ‘ensure that it maintains up to date and accurate book keeping and record keeping practices’.
The operational costs for BGF are slightly higher than anticipated for the 2019/2020 financial year because the BGF office became fully operational at the end of 2020. Our funding for this year is based 100% on Nozala Trust as a funder and once projects have started running BGF intends to attract other sources of funding. BGF intends to use various communication tools to attract different investments into the Foundation and eventually attract support to realize the mission of BGF.
Project related costs also factor in salaries as the facilitator and project coordinators main role is to work hand in hand with project members to ensure the success and growth of the projects. All budgeted amounts have also taken into consideration price increases from 2019/2020 financial year and the limited support provided to projects in the previous year.
